My Priorities
I am a self-funded candidate, and that means that the only people I am beholden to are my constituents. I am here to be a voice for you.
Connect local government to the people we are elected to serve.
I want our citizens’ voices to be heard, respected and responded to. I believe elected officials need to be available, transparent and involved in their community. I have worked for my community, and I would be honored to continue to work for you as your commissioner.
Families and farms come first.
Gravel mining and mineral extraction is big business in Barry County. I will fight to protect the families, farms, lakes, and open spaces that make Barry County an amazing place to live.
Local control over wind and solar.
Michigan has passed a law taking away local review and permitting solar and wind farms throughout the state. Decisions on wind and solar farms in Barry County should be made locally, not by bureaucrats in Lansing. I will work to overturn that law and protect Barry County families and farmland.
Create an envrionment for continued planned business development.
Looking out for our local businesses, allowing families opportunities to work and play safely in the community in which they live.
Law enforcement center.
Barry County needs a jail. Having worked as a statewide administrator in the Department of Corrections, I have insight into the corrections process and will work to find grants and county funds versus building a new facility on the backs of taxpayers. With tough budget decisions and creative conservative visioning, we can find the dollars.
